Unterschächen

Navigating the latter stretch of the Klausen Pass, from Glarus to Altdorf, we unexpectedly encountered the enchanting Stäubifalls.

Our journey began as we parked in Unterschächen, setting forth towards the falls. A delightful surprise awaited us – a welcoming assembly of goats and cows grazing in the picturesque pastures surrounding the falls. Contemplating a small lift, we hesitated but discovered it operated on cash transactions (a handy tip: bring cash if you seek a faster ascent). Opting for the trail behind the lift station Aesch-Oberalp, we started our ascent.

Midway through the journey, we veered right, navigating towards Brunnital. The trail unfolded as a scenic masterpiece, with wildflowers covering pastures, cows grazing and small classic farming huts. The soothing sounds of small streams making their way down the mountainside played as a soundtrack to our trek. The descent through Brunnital post-midpoint was equally captivating, featuring a charming glacier stream. Seizing the opportunity, I indulged in a revitalizing cold plunge, savoring the pristine mountain waters before reaching the car.

This adventure was a perfect symphony of nature's wonders – from the graceful presence of grazing animals to the vibrant hues of wildflowers and the refreshing embrace of glacier streams. Every step was a celebration of the mountains' beauty, a journey that captivated the senses and left us with memories as pristine as the waters stream that ever flows in Brunnital.
